Academy - Steam Loco Penydarren

Regular price $55.00

Academy's Steam Locomotive "Penydarren" is a Snap-Together, Educational Kit that requires no glue, no tools, and no painting to complete. Very easy to assemble, you will have a historically accurate, actual working reproduction of the Penydarren, the first steam locomotive. The Penydarren was created in 1804 by the English inventor, Richard Trevithick. It ran between the ironworks at Penydarren and the Merthyr-Cardiff canal in Wales. This terrific kit enables the modeler to study the actual gear movements that make a locomotive work. Powered by an included, spring-powered mechanism, the completed kit pulling its coal tender actually runs across your desktop, or displays it on the included stand. Academy's technical engineers captured the wonders of this mechanical masterpiece, making the model a joy to build, display or operate. Historical, educational and operational, Academy's Steam Locomotive "penydarren" will make a terrific introductory model for the budding modeler or student looking for a "show-and-tell" school project or a beautiful shelf model.
