Equipped with an improved 125mm smoothbore gun, this variant entered service in 1985. Stabilizers enable exact firing when the T-72 is in motion. Additional armament consists of the 9K120 'Svir' guided rocket system and 227 pieces of reactive armor charges, half of them attached to the turret.
