In January 1932 the first GAZ-AA truck was produced, the most numerous truck of World War 2. For its 1.5 ton cargo capacity, people called it Polutorka (one and a half). The truck was incredibly durable, easily maintained, with excellent all-terrain capabilities, and running on low octane fuel. The legendary Polutorka, together with the T-34 tank and the Katyusha rocket launcher, became one of the great symbols of the Great Patriotic War.
