The US Navy “Fort Worth” (LCS-3) Littoral combat ship was built by the Marinette Marine Corporation Littoral Combat ship prime contractor Lockheed Martin. It followed the second littoral combat ship LCS-2 Freedom. The ship featured a monomer steel semi-planing hull and could reach speeds over 45 knots. The ship is designed to perform a variety of tasks in shallow water, such as anti-submarine, anti-ship and mine clearance and humanitarian tasks.
