The Oceanhawk helicopter is the carrier-based relative of the well-known SH-60B. It is designed to provide close-in protection against submarines as well as a search and rescue capability for carrier battle groups. Its formidable arsenal includes Mk-46/Mk-50 torpedoes, cabin-mounted machine guns, plus it hunts subs with AQS-13F dipping sonar and fourteen sonar buoys. A total of 82 Oceanhawks were produced up till 1994, though it’s now being gradually replaced by the MH-60R.
