Lesotho Lot
Lesotho, a mountainous kingdom entirely surrounded by South Africa, is home primarily to the Basotho people, with Sesotho and English as official languages. Its high-altitude terrain includes the Maloti Mountains, where cool summers and cold winters bring snow to elevated areas. Independent from Britain since 1966, Lesotho is a constitutional monarchy with a history rooted in King Moshoeshoe I’s unification of the Basotho. Distinctive blankets, woven mokorotlo hats, and enduring horsemanship traditions reflect the country’s strong cultural identity.
