Guernsey Lot
Guernsey, a Channel Island off the coast of Normandy, blends British influences with a distinctive Norman heritage reflected in its traditional language, Guernésiais. Its coastal cliffs, sheltered bays, and mild maritime climate shape island life, where English is the main language. A self-governing British Crown Dependency rather than part of the United Kingdom, Guernsey maintains its own parliament and legal traditions. French author Victor Hugo lived here in exile, writing Les Misérables at Hauteville House in St. Peter Port.
