Academy - A-37B Dragon Fly 1:72

Academy

Regular price $30.50

This 1/72 scale MRC/Academy plastic model kit is an authentic replica of the A-37B Dragonfly. Created to combat guerilla warfare in the 1960s, the A-37B Dragonfly was designed as a counter-insurgency (COIN) aircraft. Powered by twin J85-GE-17A engines with a total of 5,700 pounds of thrust, the dragonfly seats two pilots side by side and protects them with a nylon flak curtain. Used in Vietnam, and noted for its light weight and ability to fly low-altitude missions, the A-37B could also take off and land on very short airstrips. Academy "nailed" this model, with an array of underwind stores, including 100-gallon fuel tanks, SUU-14A Dispensers, LAU-3 Rocket Pods, and MK.82 Bombs. Cockpit and landing gear details, along with engraved panel lines and rivet details add to the authenticity of this kit. The clear canopy can be positioned opened or closed. Parts, decals, and comprehensive finishing details are included to enable the modeler to construct a USAF or ROKAF version of the dragonfly.

  • Fully engraved panel lines and rivet details
  • Highly detailed cockpit interior
  • Highly detailed landing gear bay
  • Various under-wing weaponry
  • Modeler can finish as USAF or ROKAF aircraft
