The XIV century is considered the beginning of the powder artillery epoch. The barrels of the first cannons were cast from copper or bronze or forged from soft iron. These were found to be not durable enough, and the XV century saw the improvement of the powder gun. They were now mounted on movable gun carriages, and used at the time of the Hundred Years War in field battles, during sieges and in defense of towns. Pieces are suitable for use with the Zvezda Age of Battles expandable board game.
