- Hjalmar Andersen a Norwegian speed skater won three gold medals and team mates Arnfinn Bergmann and Torbjorn Falkanger won gold and silver medals respectively in the ski jump.
- Richard “Dick” Button a figure skater from the US only needed to perform a "safe" program to keep his Olympic title but instead, he performed a perfect triple loop that earned him high marks from the Olympic judges and a second gold medal.
