Canada Post's Spring Flowers Series Introduces Cherry Blossom Stamps
Canada Post is set to release new stamps as part of its Spring Flowers series on March 2, featuring elegant cherry blossom designs. This release includes a pair of permanent-rate stamps, valued at $1.24, available in multiple formats such as a booklet of 10 and a souvenir sheet of two.
Exploring Cherry Blossom Varieties
The stamps showcase two cultivars: Prunus ‘Kanzan’, known for its vibrant deep-pink blooms and durability in colder climates, and Prunus ‘Somei-yoshino’, celebrated for its delicate white to pale pink flowers, which herald the arrival of spring. These designs aim to celebrate the cultural significance of cherry blossoms in both Japan and Canada.
Availability and Collector Information
This new stamp release includes 600,000 booklets of 10 and 5,000 first-day covers featuring special illustrations by Jenny Liski.
