Aland’s Most Beautiful Stamp of 2025: Celebrating Ocean Life

The Aland region has announced that its most beautiful stamp issue of 2025 is a collection of four franking labels titled Treasures of the Sea, designed by Swedish artist Bo Lundwall. Officially issued on February 3, 2025, these labels celebrate the diverse marine life of Aland, featuring species such as bladderwrack, blue mussel, three-spined stickleback, and jellyfish. The vibrant designs not only showcase the beauty of these organisms but also highlight their ecological importance.

Johanna Finne from Aland Post praised Lundwall's artistry, emphasizing its vividness and scientific accuracy. Lundwall expressed delight at receiving recognition for his work, marking this win as his fourth title as Aland's most beautiful stamp designer since 2013. Following the Treasures of the Sea, the second and third places in the contest went to the Dove of Peace and an illustrated stamp by Amanda Chanfreau, respectively.

This annual competition, celebrated since 1995, allows collectors to appreciate talented designs in philately. Although the Treasures of the Sea stamps have been discontinued and the Dove of Peace is sold out, collectors can still explore many other offerings from Aland Post by visiting Aland Post's online collection.
